Welcome to the Columbus SQL Server Users Group

Our local meetings are free and open to all! We meet the second Thursday of every month. Our current meetings are being (temporarily) held at:

6100 Emerald Parkway

Dublin, OH

Important travel note: Due to all the construction around the I-270/33 interchange in Dublin, your best option for getting to the meeting is to take the Tuttle Crossing exit (15) and take Tuttle Crossing Blvd. west to Emerald Parkway, and turn right. IGS is about a mile on the right.

In an ongoing attempt to make the content presented useful to our members we start each meeting with a short introduction and Q&A session.  Unless noted in the meeting notes the schedule for each meeting will be:

6:00 - 6:20 - Networking & social time

6:20 - 6:30 - Welcome & Announcements

6:30 - 6:45 - Warm Up Presentation

6:45 - 7:45 - Main Presentation

7:45 - 8:00 - Meeting Wrap Up and Door Prizes

Upcoming Meetings

Our next meeting will be November 12th, 2015 featuring Mark Chamberlain on Databases Even Application Developers Can Love.

The database for every modern-day green-field project is a NoSQL technology, right? WRONG! In a datetime when Relational databases are not the “cool” choice, some of us choose to still work with this antiquated technology. Come hear the experiences and design choices of a small, integrated development team building a new ERP-like Business Management System (ERPLBMS) for a niche market. See how a well-normalized, relational design better supports Object Oriented application development and fearless use of ORM tools like Microsoft’s Entity Framework. Finally, experience how a terse foreign-key architecture does much more than just cause consternation.

Mark Chamberlain has been developing applications based on MSSQL Server since 1999 and has implemented many antipatterns throughout his career. Learning from those mistakes, Mark is now leading a team of developers at Select Sires, Inc. (Plain City, OH) that is creating that business’ next generation system for business management.
