Topic

SQL Installations, When Point & Click Ain’t Your Shtick

Abstract

If you are faced with multiple SQL server installations or just want a reliable way to document what has transpired, Clark Hahn will be presenting on text based procedures that can help you have both a standardized method for server setup and delivery and better documentation. By using combinations of the Configuration file and T-SQL workable solutions can be created for the small IT Shop on a budget or the ’Accidental DBA’. This topic is intended for junior and accidental DBA, or anyone who just hasn’t had the time to explore beyond ‘Point & Click’.

Presenter

Clark Hahn is a ‘Database Specialist’ employed with the State of Ohio, Office of Budget and Management. Having 20+ years of database experience starting on a mainframe platform. Two years ago Clark found himself jumping into a new database platform and a group of peers who had never heard of a green screen.  He also found himself being audited, for best practices, and needed a way to quickly get these practices and policies implemented on multiple servers. This presentation will cover many of his findings.
